PLEASE ARRIVE EARLY AS WE WILL LEAVE CORYDON AT 8:30 EST!
Park at Indiana's First State Capitol on either East Beaver, North Elm, East Walnut, or along North Capitol. Meet at the gazebo at the southeast corner of the capitol square. From there we will carpool to River Front Park in Brandenburg, Kentucky (25 minute drive). At the park we will discuss John H. Morgan's 1863 Raid to that point, including Thomas Hines' June reconnaissance into Indiana and Morgan's crossing of the Ohio, and visit the Confederate Veteran Monument that was relocated from Louisville.
Returning to our vehicles, we will make a slow drive by of Morgan's headquarters during the river crossing place before stopping at a cluster of markers along Indiana Highway 135. After a quick stop for those who want to read the markers and take pictures we will head to Morvin’s Landing for a view of Brandenburg…
